US DoJ Puts Dampener on Superbowl Betting Fun

  • The US Department of Justice shut down sixteen online sports betting sites only hours before the most famous sporting event of the year, the Superbowl Championship Final took place on Sunday.  Their move left many players out in the cold after having placed bets backing their favorite teams.

The Department of Justice gave the Infringement of Copyright Laws as their excuse for shutting down the live streaming sites.

    Included in the websites that were affected are firstrowsports.tv, firstrowsports.net, firstrowsports.com, hq-streams.tv, soccertvlive.net, sports95.com, sportswwe.net, robplay.tv, xonesports.tv, sportswwe.tv, sportswwe.com, youwwe.com and youwwe.net.

Industry analysts have agreed that Preet Bharara, who was instrumental in closing down numerous poker sites in the US on Black Friday in April 2011, ordered the current shut downs.
