I've been running a feature on my blog called Ask Rizen, where I take emails from fans and select some to answer each Friday. Members at PokerNations are welcome to submit questions as well and I'll select some and answer them also! Try to provide as much information as possible. Include pertinent details like blind information, stack sizes, and position. This makes it much easier to answer your questions. Please only use this thread to submit questions, not to carry on discussions, thank you! Also, this thread is being created in Other Gambling because I can answer questions that involve bankroll management, tilt control, games outside of Hold Em, etc. |

My question: Online sng's seem to have increased significantly in difficulty over the past year or two. Do you believe this is a related more to 1. the UIGEA thinning many of the fish from the online ranks (i.e. they're less informed about the legality of the situation) 2. the expansion of player knowledge on game theory and sng strategy 3. the global economic situation pushing out more recreational fish and leaving behind more hardened grinders ______________________ |

I read in a poker mag that some players are now looking at early stages in a mtt torney ie first 5 blind levels to get chipped up rather than keep the tight image, and risk it all at alter stages of a torney do you think this is true or would you advise sitting back untill you can assess the table and your apponents ______________________ Judge Me & I'll Prove you wrongTell me what to do & I'll tell you off Call me an Asshole & I'll Show you one Say I am not worth it & see where I end Up Fuck me over & I'll do it to you Twice as bad Call me Crazy but you really have no idea |

QUESTON: Raise or Call? Your stack 62k Opponent: Dave "the DevilFish" Ulliott 48k (Crafty, Dangerous, Explosive...I mean he's the Devil) Blinds: 200-400 50 ante Position: Your in the HI-Jack Fish is in the BB. Situation you've put you've elected to put yourself in: Your Hand: 8/6 of spades. Established a strong image and now looking to exploit and begin dominating the table. You raise 1100 and BB calls. The flop falls 5/6/7 one spade. The fish leads for 2k. Do you call or raise in this spot? Second question: If you call: The turn brings an off-suit 8 but your opponent in less then 2 seconds leads again for 5k not even considering. Do you simply fold, call or raise in this spot? Third question: If you elect to call again on the turn. The river brings an off-suit King and your opponent leads for 6k and the pot is over 20k. Call, fold or raise? Thank you for your consideration. Kenna James |

$20+$2 SNG. My opponent heads-up was solid and straight-forward for the most part, didn't seem to get out of line and often gave up on pots pretty easily (but played his strong hands strongly) Since I realized he was giving up pots too easily headsup, I started raising more liberally, so the history here is that I went from limping and folding some hands heads-up to this point where I've now raised the past five hands in a row (both in and out of position). I figure my opponent isn't a complete idiot, and may be playing back at me with a wide range of hands that I have beat with my hand (since I expect him to not put me on as strong a hand as I have here headsup) Full Tilt Poker $20 + $2 No Limit Hold'em Tournament - t60/t120 Blinds - 2 players - The Official DeucesCracked.com Hand History Converter Hero (BB): t7559 M = 41.99 BTN/SB: t5941 M = 33.01 Pre Flop: (t180) Hero is BB with A BTN/SB calls t60, Hero raises to t400, BTN/SB raises to t960, Hero ???? What do you do in this spot and why? ______________________ |

Will Rizen be posting his responses in this thread or do we have to go to his blog? ______________________ Mike aka Toro |

If he doesn't answer them in the thread, I'm sure he'll post in the thread directing you to his blog where he's selected some to answer. I don't expect he'll be able to answer every single question, so will likely pick select ones to address ______________________ |

I will be posting answers in my blog. I posted an 'Ask Rizen' on my blog here at PokerNations answering the first three questions from this thread. I'll be answering questions every Friday and monitoring this thread so feel free to keep submitting! I appreciate all the questions so far, very well thought out and thorough questions, always a lot of fun to dig into. I always welcome feedback so feel free to let me know what you think and/or if you disagree with any of my responses. By way of edit, you can reach the blog at http://www.pokernations.com/Rizen/blog/244/ -Rizen |

You ever get "landmark syndrome"? I don't know what you call it, I made the name up. I've noticed that whenever you get close to a particular goal for your roll, you tend to stumble for a bit right before or after it. I'm in one of those stretches right now; about 5 buyins from a particular goal, where I intend to make a withdrawal, but not gaining any ground for the last 8-10 sessions overall. I know it snaps eventually, but I was just curious if this was prevalent among other players. ______________________ ![]() |

Do you suffer the same level of frustration as the rest of us when you're on a tear for the first 3 weeks of a month, and then the last week of the month things just go horribly awry and instead of locking up a nice profit you break even or suffer a loss? ______________________ |

Rizen, During your development as a player what do you feel was the biggest event/light bulb moment/lesson that took you from being a good player to a pro? I am assuming that you didn't just start out killing the games when you started and had to build your skills. :) I know there is probably no 1 answer but if you could give your best 2-3 it would be greatly apreciated. Obviously there is no "secret" but was curious what you thought was your turning point. Good luck at the tables !! |

Do you think Team Poker has a chance to flourish? Maybe internationally, as well? USA vs Russia or Germany vs Great Britain would be fun to watch. I have seen it a little online but want to see a live set up. Any knowledge on any of this happening in future years to come? Thanks for your time! ______________________

I'd like to know what you think of DONs They seem to be fairly low risk but because of the time investment don't necessarily look all that profitable. ______________________ Chance Favors the Prepared Mind...

DON=Double or nothing. It's an SNG that pays double the buyin to half the players; i.e. if 10 players start a $1 DON, the top 5 each get $2. ______________________ ![]() |

My question(s) is about sponsorship. People have written that a TV table is worth 10,000.00 to each player who wears a poker site's gear at the WSOP Main Event for example. Is this true and how does a player go about arranging this? Does he have to wait for a site to actually approach him, are there 'player agents' like your amulance chasers looking for these opportunities to represent players, or do the sites actively try to scoop up these players as soon as the the TV table is posted? If the above figure of 10k is not correct perhaps you can tell us what the figures usually are and other than ME TV tables what sort of sponsorship is provided for the lesser event TV tables at the WSOP and for the more prestigious 40 or 50k events? What about other TV tables at other tournaments ie WPT, Aussie Millions, EPT etc. Thanks for your time and consideration. Kashuskay |
