Playing pocket jacks

I didn't write this but got me thinking some, cause everyone has a pocket Jack story

" Do you overplay JJ? Hey, don't be too hard on yourself, we all overplayed JJ at some point.  But the painful reality is: there's a 57% chance of an overcard (Queen, King or Ace) flopping when you have JJ in your hand!

Does that mean you should run scared 57% of the time on the flop?  Of course not, but it means you should try to control yourself a little bit more with Jacks.  Our brains have a tendency to treat it like a premium hand because it's two matching face cards.

Something I've found that's cut down on my losses pretty drastically with JJ is to not 3 bet as much with it.  Don't get me wrong, I still 3 bet the looser guys at the table with it, but I used to 3 bet it even if there was a raiser and a caller behind me.  In a 3-way pot that's been 3 betted and called, JJ is pretty dangerous.

Basically, my philosophy generally is: treat JJ about the same way you do 1010 or 99, but not the same way you treat QQ or KK."

I agree, all things being equal.

whenever i get pocket jacks i burn them then jump off the biggest building i can find.

But yeah they are a very good hand, but can be very troublesome if you treat them like a monster. Alot of people tend to overvalue QQ.

Someone posted a video on here about how to play pocket jacks, i dont remember what it was called, but i thought it was worth a view.

It's no secret, I Hate Jacks! I think I would rather have 8 7 suited. (I know that's ridiculous) But seriously, at least most times I know where I'm at in a given hand with 8 7 suited. Jacks are a great starting hand, but they always seem to get me in trouble. They are difficult to fold pre-flop and even more difficult at times to play post-flop. Maybe I should just insta muck them from now on...

Best thing to do with JJ. Politely hand it back to the dealer and ask for 2 other cards!

Ask AJ and he'll tell you that I'll take K5o over JJ anyday

Problably the most controversial of all starting hands.

I think JJ is best to take down a little pot by controlling the pot size. You know, make a semi-solid bet from late position to about 5 BB's, and hope to catch one or two callers with like AK,AQ, AJ. If the flop comes undercards, like 3-6-9, then you can play it and take it down with another solid raise. Otherwise it is VERY hard to get profit with JJ.

Was funny last night, my friend and biz partner was in a freeroll last night -- was doing well, almost in the money -- now mind you I had just shown her the youtube video Rene mentioned. She got JJ, busted out of the money, I of course had to mock her lol
