PokerNations and TPT Meetup at Mohegan Sun in CT - March or April

Hey everyone!

With the recent announcement by PokerStars of the NAPT series, with a stop at Mohegan Sun in CT, I'm looking to arrange a gathering of our members and those from the TPT down there during this series.

Pokerstars NAPT Mohegan Sun  Mohegan Sun Casino CT

They haven't released the full schedule of events, but I know that it's set to take place between March 27-April 11.  I figured we could all meet up and have an army of PokerNations members play one of the $340 tournaments or something (that figure is based on the schedule of events for the NAPT that I saw from the Venetian series)

I'm waiting on our new supplier of poker logo wear, as once they're ready we can arrange for a group buy and get you all a discount on hats and shirts this way (should be much better than the cafepress prices and better quality as well)

So there's no specific date set in stone yet, but I am in touch with the Mohegans Director of Poker Operations plus some folks at Stars.  Going to try and get press access so we can take pics and video while we all donk it up in the tournament.

If you would be interested in the meetup, please post in this thread and include the following:

Days That Are Best For You To Play/Meet:  (midweek evenings, weekends, etc, this will help us determine what day to select for everyone to meetup and try to play together)

Group Buy Of Hotel Rooms:  Would you be interested in trying to get a block of rooms as a group and maybe a discount and perhaps sharing a room with other PokerNations members?  Or would you just drive down and back home same day?

Tournament:  Would you be able to play a $340 or so tournament, or would you just be down to meet others and maybe play some cash games?

Group Buy Of PokerNations Hats and Shirts
:  Would you be interested in snagging some logo wear in a group buy at a discount?

Days That Are Best For You To Play/Meet: Weekends (im on vacation the first week of April so anytime that week would be fine)

Group Buy Of Hotel Rooms: No to room, will commute.

Tournament: $340 is probably a little steep for me right now but I would go either way and play cash/pics

I spoke with Rizen. While it's not guaranteed he can come, he will try to make it out for this, depending on scheduling. This way you could all meet someone who actually knows what they're talking about when they discuss poker.

Otherwise you'll all just be chasing me around trying to catch me so I give you wishes or my pot of gold or something

I'm in. Days are better (I like to be home for the kid's bath time) but I can make arrangements. Toro - no scotch for me this time!

Dan P.

No stinking hotel room for me. Sleep cuts into the hourly rate.
I'd part with some cash for some AJ swag/
Dan don't like touneys so much.

Hah! NannyBanhammer is one of my personas online. I've retired my 2p2 pseudonym with just one exception (a regional site devoted to one of my other hobbies). If anyone reads the T&G, yep, I'm that NannyBanhammer too.

I've got a conference call with the folks at Mohegan on the 21st. I just checked out a room on a MONDAY in March and it was $250, wowza!

Not sure what gives with those room rates, perhaps I may just commute as well, we'll see when it's all taking place and how it's going down.

Will know more once I see their schedule of events and talk to their management.

I was using the $340 figure for the tourney because of the NAPT Venetian Schedule

That is the lowest buyin they offered, so figured that might be the benchmark for Mohegan as well.  Ideally I'd like to select a lower buyin tourney that gives us the greatest shot of having as many PokerNations and TPT members participate as possible (although I'm sure we can arrange a dinner together with everyone, and maybe some cash game action as well)

The Mohegan Sun NAPT Schedule is to be announced shortly.

$250 for a room !!!!!
Check out the cost at Two Tree at Foxwoods and commute from there ! It'll be a lot cheaper then 250 !!!
It's only like a 10 minute drive between the places !

Schweeeeett!

I had been using a Sony Cybershot DSC-S650 7.2 megapixel camera for all my photos and video with a 2GB memory stick

Sony DSC-S650 7.2 Megapixel Camera

Found a good review (and a sale) on the newer Sony Cybershot DSC-W290 12.1 megapixel digital camera which also takes video in 720p HD and picked up an 8GB memory stick to go along with it:

Sony Cybershot DSC-W290 Digital Camera 12.1 megapixels

Going to test this puppy out at tonights home poker game.  But from what I've seen so far it's a gazillion times better than my aging camera and should provide much cleaner pictures and footage.

Which will also come in VERY handy if we can snag press access at Mohegan and do some updates throughout the series and maybe interview some pros

Weekends are generally good for me if my schedule is light I might be able to swing a week day but wouldn't be able to spend the night

I don't pay anything close to that to stay @ Wynn or Encore when I am in Vegas, is that typical for Mohegan???

I don't know, I haven't been to the Mohegan in over a decade cause they didn't have a poker room for the longest time. I spoke with PayDayJoe here at PN and he said the place is always packed, sometimes months in advance.

I guess that is the reason why. You have to realize in CT there's Mohegan and Foxwoods, so they aren't competing with the number of properties those on the Vegas Strip must deal with, the closest competition for them would be Atlantic City in NJ

Chato, I'm sure you can find a way to swing by and meet us in Vegas during this years WSOP when Rizen and I will be down. We'll have another gathering on the West Coast for that.

And Skiwert, sounds great man. Obviously play as many events as you'd like. Just trying to plan for one of the smaller buyins to accommodate the largest amount of players possible that could represent PokerNations :)

Hey AJ,

Put me on the list, though It would depend on the date and time decided if I can make the trip or not.

Nights and Weekends are best for me! Room not needed, I will commute and yes to the rest.

Hey all Just an FYI. I live 10mins from the sun. There are 2 other hotels that aren't more than 5 mins from the casino. I bet there rates are definetly more reasonable and are much much closer than staying at foxwoods. They are Microtel Inn & suites 860-367-0880 and Best western Cristata Inn 888-863-7847 or 860-848-0660 direct. Literally u can see the casino from these places. I think both may even offer shuttle service to the sun. And as far as meeting I plan on being in and as far as attire goes I would be interested in a hat. If there are any other questions about the area please feel free to post here or message me. I will do my best to help anyone interested.

Hey Bob and Jim, sounds great. Jim, thanks for the info on the other hotel locations. Someone had mentioned to me there might be a Best Western nearby.

Looks like the vast majority of attendees would be commuting so far.
