It's been theorized that the regulation of online poker in the United States will come about once Brick and Mortar Casinos and State Governments navitgate their way through to finding monopolies. In other words, Online Poker is objected to mostly because it's owned and operated by others. B&M casinos want to dominate it, and are quite likely influencing the government accordingly. Governments themselves appear to be eyeing the market for themselves, as well.
There are several articles that support this theory. One being here: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/aug/31/dc-council-members-to-scrutinize-lottery-contract-/?page=1. Apparently, the D.C. Lottery is preparing to start offering online poker, blackjack, slot machines and other games.
http://www.marke****ch.com/story/playpokeronlinecom-new-jersey-could-legalize-online-poker-2011-09-23 states that New Jersey may legalize online poker, but only paving the way for Brick and Mortar casinos to open online poker rooms.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I smell a rat. I'd much prefer to see the entire states legalizing it, and opening up a level playing field for all.
I've never deposited online -- I was a freeroll player who just grinded for fun, or to get more practice. (did make money that was ceased too)
Once again regulations. There's many issues that I imagine the goverment is concerned about. Until the PPA gives them an idea to regulate, it will be stalled. We all have ideas, mine are even a bit extreme. But I don't have any power or say in it.
